LINOLCUT and PATCHPRINT WORKSHOP
Create a unique linoleum stamp and print your design onto upcycled patches to repair and personalize clothing.
VAGA Studio's two-part workshop combines the time-honored technique of linocut printing with upcycling and repair. Participants will create unique patches from fabric scraps, which can be used to mend holes, reinforce seams, or simply give favorite items a fresh new look – creatively, sustainably, and with a personal touch.
In the first part, you'll gain insight into the origins and tradition of linocut printing. You'll learn how to transfer your own design onto linoleum (4×6 cm or 6×8 cm) and become familiar with the various tools. Carve by carve, you'll peel your design from the linoleum, creating your own print.
In the second part, you'll learn why we're so passionate about reusing fabric scraps and repairing clothing. You'll become familiar with tools and dyes for textile printing and print your designs onto cut-up fabric scraps. Finally, we invite you to exchange patches with each other – for greater variety and as a memento of our time together.
No prior knowledge required – the workshop is suitable for beginners and anyone who wants to get hands-on experience.
